A mostly dry and cloudy morning but with some bright or sunny spells, especially in the north. In the afternoon cloud and heavy rain with move into the southwest and spread northwards to all areas. Strong winds near the coast. Maximum Temperature 10C.

Tonight 7 Dec Highlands and Eilian Siar

A cloudy and wet start with heavy rain gradually clearing from the south late evening and overnight. Then a largely dry night, a few showers near the west coast. Heavier showers or longer spells of rain across Lochaber towards dawn. Minimum Temperature 2C.

Mon 8 Dec Highlands and Eilian Siar

A cloudy morning with showers or longer spells of rain gradually spreading north. These heavy at times in the morning, but turning lighter in the afternoon. A largely dry evening. Maximum Temperature 9C.

Cloudy with outbreaks of heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday with strong winds and risk of severe coastal gales. Drier spells on Thursday and remaining windy.

A continuation of a similar pattern to that seen through early December is anticipated, especially at first, as frontal systems from the Atlantic spread into and across the UK, interspersed with some temporary drier interludes. These will bring occasional spells of rain, which may be heavy at times leading to the risk of some impacts given how wet it has been lately. In addition, there may also be potential for some periods of strong winds at times too. Whilst it will often be mild, later in the period there may be a slight downward trend in temperature, especially across northern parts of the UK where there may also be a slightly higher chance of some wintry hazards at times.
