Severe gales at first this evening gradually easing tonight. The Southwest will be mainly dry and clear but a few wintry showers will affect the Lothians and northern Borders. Minimum Temperature 1C.

Once this feature clears we see a trend toward more settled conditions, and for much of the UK these likely to continue to the end of the period, although the extreme northwest may see further spells of rain and strong winds at times. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly at first. As conditions become more settled there is an increases risk of overnight frost and fog.
